Composite Fillings
|
A tooth-colored filling or composite is used to repair a tooth that is damaged by cracks, fractures or decay. We will remove the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth and then fill it with a composite filling.
An abundant amount of filling materials are available, each with advantages and disadvantages. Ask our dentist which is the best option for restoring your teeth. The most common fillings are composite fillings, along with silver amalgam fillings. Composite fillings are tooth colored, and can be closely matched to the color of your existing teeth, making them more aesthetically suited for use in the visible parts of your mouth.
Composite fillings are not permanent and may someday need to be replaced but they are very durable, and should last many years.

What is the procedure for placing fillings? It usually requires one office appointment to place a composite filling. With your tooth numb, the dentist at Rask Dental will first remove any decay, the space is then cleaned and carefully prepared before the new filling is placed. The composite filling is then placed, shaped, and polished, giving your tooth to its original shape and function.
You may experience sensitivity when composite fillings are initially placed, this will subside as your tooth acclimates to the new filling.
Our office will provide care instructions at the conclusion of your treatment. Good oral hygiene practices, eating habits, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new fillings.
