Crowns
|
A crown, or cap, encases a tooth surface rebuilding it to its original shape and size. Crowns protect and strengthen the tooth structure when they cannot be restored with fillings.
Crowns come in a variety of styles. Porcelain crowns are the most popular, they are tooth colored and most resemble your natural teeth in shape, color, and size. They are also highly durable and should last many years, but may eventually need to be replaced.
Reasons for crowns:• |

What is the procedure for placing a crown?Crown procedures usually require two office appointments. The first appointment includes taking accurate molds, or impressions, for creating your custom crown. Our dentist will also use a mold to create a temporary crown until your new crown is fabricated by a dental laboratory.
Crowns: First VisitWith your tooth numbed, the dentist at Rask Dental in Beaverton, OR will prepare the tooth to properly fit the crown. Once all of the details are accomplished, your temporary crown will be placed with temporary cement and your bite will be checked to ensure you are biting properly.
Crowns: Second VisitApproximately two weeks later, your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned again, and your new crown will be carefully placed to ensure the spacing and bite are accurate.
We will ensure that you have care instructions and encourage you to have regular dental visits to check your new crown.
